Abstract

Women entrepreneurship resilience in the fragile state of Burundi post-conflict is the study which focused on entrepreneurial resilience amongst women. Globally, women entrepreneurs are bringing income home, creating jobs, and contributing to their local economy. Despite such efforts, women face obstacles to accessing finance, markets, networks, and support. However, Burundi is a fragile state, and with a history of political tensions due to poor governance and widespread corruption. Researchers developed three objectives: a) to critically examine the level of resilience of women entrepreneurs in post-conflict? b) to identify factors affecting the resilience of women entrepreneurs; c) to provide key recommendations for policymakers and other stakeholders for reducing gender inequalities across the country. To meet these research objectives, researchers used the main research question: How do women entrepreneurs apply resilience in post-conflict situations to cope with uncertainty? Findings revealed that Burundian women entrepreneurs face cultural barriers and economic and political instability.
