    Abstract

Women's entrepreneurship policy continues to gain more attention among researchers. This study aims to examine women's entrepreneurship policy in Burundi from a gender perspective by addressing the question in two-folds; How well entrepreneurship policies are designed to encourage and support women's entrepreneurship in Burundi? How those policies can be redesigned to effectively support women entrepreneurs in Burundi? The authors have adopted the Global WEP methodological approach to carry out this study. The findings are discussed and critiqued based on the institutional theory framework. This study recommends that Burundi and other SSA should formulate effective entrepreneurship policies for women.
