Abstract
A published CD of original compositions, arranged, performed and produced by David Scott. The album develops a thematic direction explored on my other recordings around place and its connection with people: the title track is set in Liverpool and imagines the colour that its most famous musicians have imposed on its grey architecture. Another west coast location - Glasgow - is depicted in Could Be A Street Could Be A Saint and again thinks about the humour and optimism of its people as a dynamic part of the city fabric. I am interested in the classic songwriting and arranging that emerged from Los Angeles and New York in the early to late 1960s and how that sonic template can be reimagined in a contemporary Scottish setting
