Abstract

This paper focuses on Routes To Work, an employability and skills Third Sector Organisation, who have commenced the journey to embedding social value in their work, specifically in their approach to working with employability clients. We argue that this social value approach will support Routes To Work in becoming a sustainable and responsible business.

Set against a backdrop of the devolution of some employability support to the Scottish Parliament and the creation of employability programmes focused more broadly on societal challenges of health, justice, and housing, we argue that the work undertaken by Routes To Work comes at the right time to influence a more sustainable approach to employability support at the individual level, to their own organisational sustainability, and to the wider sustainability of employability interventions.
