Abstract
The healthcare system in Algeria faces significant challenges in delivering adequate care, prompting government efforts for improvement, especially after COVID-19. Despite attempts to integrate health technologies to improve access, efficiency, and quality, the system remains undigitized, decentralised, and non-integrated, impacting patient care quality.
This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the Algerian government's roadmap for the digital transformation of healthcare. The findings highlight a focus on the public sector, with no mention of the private sector, and an absence of detailed strategies, concrete plans, or timelines. Transitioning to a fully digital system is challenging, as critical success factors are overlooked.
The findings underscore the need for the Algerian government to adopt a structured digital transformation plan and strategy, emphasising an incremental implementation process to ensure sustainable progress.
