Abstract

The Blue Funnel Line was a British shipping company that operated merchant ships from 1866 to 1988. This film and song traces the journey of one merchant seaman from Liverpool who worked on the Blue Funnel Line. He shared his story with us during a research project into the experiences of people over 60 living in supported housing in Bristol. This story is part of a larger life histories project we began in 2001 during our doctoral research and continues to this day.
