Abstract

In 2018/19, I (Dr Abeer Hassan) secured funding to develop a training process through which my PhD researchers gained the skills to supervise Honours and Masters Students – you can read about the initiative here on the Supervising PhDs blog. The aim of this was to develop their employability and help them feel ready to move towards a lectureship post after their PhD. Within my approach, learning via the hidden curriculum was facilitated and the hidden curriculum was recognised as genuine pedagogical spaces that can be extended to support developing doctoral students’ academic, personal, social and psychological needs
