Abstract
The energy transition and the increasing energy demand also lead to the modernization and new construction of hydropower plants with small fall heights. The use of these fall heights is supported by the research work on water wheels at the University of Darmstadt. This article describes the investigations on a water wheel according to Zuppinger and a Dethridge Wheel regarding the ecological (continuity) and energetic (performance) optimization.
