    Abstract

Lithium-ion batteries have attracted unprecedented attention and came into the limelight as the most vibrant topic for researchers over merely three decades. This short journey from the concept to becoming the most vital part of modern communications, electronic gadgets, and electric vehicles speaks for itself about this energy storage device׳s success. However, this is a continuously evolving topic; a lot of research is being carried out on electrodes, electrolytes, separators, and device stability. In this article, an in-depth study about LIB is carried out; in the first part, various device components are discussed like electrodes, electrolytes, separators, and current collectors. In the second part, electrochemical issues related to the device, performance enhancement, and future perspective are thoroughly discussed. This article aims to give an insight of LIB’s and elaborate on all the pertaining aspects.
