    Abstract

The aim of this project was to engage the children of Eigg primary school with ideas of being native or "local" and "incomers" or outsiders using the development of a fiction film script and film. To explore ideas of what it is to be local or 'foreign' we used ideas of aliens and asked the children to explore what the experience and perceptions of an alien arriving on their island might be.
The children were also particularly interested in ideas of space and time travel and the physics of black holes. The project allowed them the opportunity to talk with scientists at CERN. They then explore ways to visualised scientific concepts of black holes and time travel.
