Abstract

The Technical Debt metaphor is a field of interest to both the Software Engineering research community and practitioners. The metaphor is used to explain phenomena that occur during software development. This paper studies the application of the metaphor in reflection activities that take place in agile development projects. For this, a qualitative research methodology is applied on retrospective reports of a real software development project. The findings raise evidence of the applicability of the metaphor by identifying the concepts that can be associated with it. Furthermore, the results confirm the applicability of the generating factors of Technical Debit identified in the literature.
