Abstract
This presentation discusses how the Scottish Business Pledge, especially within its internationalisation dimension, might contribute to the achievement of an objective which lies at the heart of a number of the SDGs namely; the facilitation of greater and more equitable trade involving developing countries. The focus is on tackling some of the obstacles to such an objective which may appear to be endemic within Global Value Chains. The presentation also highlights the potential role for Scottish companies to contribute to capacity building in developing countries in trade facilitation; and in the elimination of the many barriers to effective and equitable trade on the part of such countries.
