Gendering cultural heritage of the Gdańsk shipyard: diving into histories, imagining futures

Abstract

The chapter examines the methods that were utilised by public art projects that engaged with the local public and not only invited their consideration of the shipyard’s heritage, but also rewrote its histories and contemplated its very premises (unfortunately, now largely in ruins).

The book is published by European Solidarity Centre. It offers up to date interdisciplinary research concerning the histories of the shipyard and its spaces and is divided into four parts, each dealing with a different aspect of historical discourse of the Gdansk Shipyard: 1 political history, 2 social history, 3 history of shipbuilding, and 4 contemporary history.
