Abstract
Reviews the book From Child Terrorism to Peace Activism by Jonathan Matusitz (2023). Matusitz lays out the core objectives of this work as (a) to examine micro and macro processes of child terrorism; (b) to understand the process of transition beyond child terrorism to peace activism; and (c) to consider theoretical implications and offer fresh solutions that can improve existing approaches to how former child terrorists are understood and engaged with. For scholars who are new to the field (including some peace psychologists and developmental psychologists), these chapters will provide an accessible introduction to a selection of differing types of terrorism and some prominent theoretical perspectives. For more experienced scholars in the field, this first half provides a useful orientation to the authors’ approach, which sets up the next chapters to good effect.
