    Abstract

In 2018/19, my Honours supervisor at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) Dr Abeer Hassan secured some funding to develop a training process through which her PhD researchers gained the skills to supervise Honours and Masters Students – you can read about the initiative here on the Supervising PhDs blog. The aim of this was to develop their employability and help them feel ready to move towards a lectureship post after their PhD. Both Abeer and the PhD student who mentored and supported my learning through my final year as an undergraduate student, contributed to developing my academic skills and encouraged me to start my PhD.
