Abstract
The growing concern for ethically inclined leadership in today’s world has fostered the necessity for ethical leadership in order to tackle the growing case of ethical related scandals in leadership. Extensive research in the field of ethical leadership has yield progressive and critical works to the body of literature in respect to organisational performance, employee commitment and the formation of strong ethical code of conduct for organisations. There exist critical gaps and lack of empirical research regarding the concept of ethical leadership within the public sector. To meet this gap, an exploration of the concept of ethical leadership within the Nigerian public sector is proposed. Furthermore, this proposes new grounds for the body of knowledge in the field of ethical leadership. Considerations for the undertaking of this research are presented.
