    Abstract

This developmental paper will highlight some of the critical roles of entrepreneurship in poverty reduction with reference to women in the South-South region of Nigeria.
This paper will draw inferences from previous studies on the significance of training and entrepreneurship education to poverty reduction. A qualitative approach to data collection will be applied in this study. To empirically test the assertions of this research paper, this research adopts a case study research method. This will enable the researcher to obtain and probe ways women can be empowered, through semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The result of this research paper will provide an original perspective on human capital development, most notably the need for entrepreneurial education and entrepreneurial literature and practice.
