Abstract
In March 2011 the School of Education at the University of the West of Scotland
delivered a module in collaboration with the International School for Holocaust Studies
at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem, to a small group of third year undergraduate B.Ed. students.
Yad Vashem is the Holocaust Marytrs’ and Heroes Remembrance Authority in Jerusalem
and the world centre for Holocaust research and education. Entitled Holocaust Studies
and Citizenship, this option module was delivered to 11 students. The perceived
advantages of this collaborative delivery were student access to staff expertise in
Holocaust Studies and to an extensive range of educational materials through the Yad
Vashem website and collection, and student provision of a wider international
perspective on Holocaust and Genocide Studies than could be delivered by the
University on its own.
