Elements: acousmatic composition

Graeme Truslove (Composer)

Research output: Non-textual formComposition

Abstract

Elements explores sustained evolution through the interactions of millions of sonic details, which combine to create a flowing sound mass in constant flux. The title refers to the way that the mass was controlled – by transforming its lowest elements, the grains themselves. Throughout the piece, the sound mass mutates between a number of textural forms – some of which are suggestive of natural phenomena, such as birdsong or pouring liquid, whilst others contain less obvious mimetic references, forming a more abstract sonic substance.
