Abstract
This research aimed to provide insights into diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in a complex and multiple organizational setting – an interorganizational project. Data was collected through interviews, archival documents and visuals, using the case of the Thames Tideway Tunnel project in the UK. Content analysis has been used for the analysis. The findings provide evidence that both DEI adoption and DEI promotion are integrated into interorganizational projects. We identified six sub-themes of DEI adoption: natural process, demarginalization, philosophy of collaboration, inclusive leadership, supporting programs and anti-discriminatory policies. Moreover, the study presented evidence of four elements of DEI promotion: transforming macho culture, thinking outside the box, festivities and future making. The proposed DEI framework has several implications for DEI in interorganizational projects.
