Developing PhD researchers’ supervisory skills as an antidote to pandemic frustrations

    Research output: Other contribution

    Abstract

In this blog, I explain how in addition to supporting my PhD researchers mentally and emotionally during lockdown, I continued to support them to focus during this difficult time by enhancing their academic and interpersonal skills to allow them to move up on the academic ladder. Back in 2018/19, I secured some funding to develop a system through which PhD researchers trained to supervise Honours and Masters Students. The aim of this was to develop their employability and help them feel ready to move towards a lectureship post after their PhD journey. I returned to this activity in the last few months to support our isolated PhD researchers.
