Abstract
This paper presents a critical exploration of the relationship between the Philippine’s turbulent colonial past and its current economic state.
The author adopts Dependency Theory (DT hereafter) in an effort to explain periods of macro-economic deficit in the Philippines within these historical contexts, along with a general description of the periods of macro-economic surplus in the country.
