Abstract
Recent decades have witnessed a significant increase in literature, policy debates, changes in
academic curriculum, seminars, conferences, and webinars, and civil rights movements
focusing on ‘decolonising’ higher education, global health, and international development,
and exploring possible strategies to move forward with more fair, just and inclusive policy
and practices. However, globally, professional nursing has yet to join the mainstream debate
and actively engage with decolonising activities. This chapter offers a perspective on why the
nursing profession needs to join the debate and actively engage in ‘decolonising’ nursing
education and practice.
