Abstract

Service orchestration is essential to close the control loop of the intelligent autonomic network service deployment on demand in the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) based 5G networking paradigm as envisioned in the SELFNET project. This document reports the implementation and specification details of three SELFNET components related to 5G Service Management and Orchestration in the SELFNET Orchestration sublayer, including Service Catalogue, Service Inventory and Service Orchestrator. This Orchestration sublayer interacts on the northbound side with Autonomic Management components and on the southbound with the heterogeneous infrastructure composed of both virtualized and physical resources. Moreover, the components presented are responsible for receiving the decided tactical actions made by components at the north and orchestrate the necessary SDN/NFV Apps to enforce those actions. To illustrate the interactions between these components when performing their roles, an example use-case is used. This use-case consists of a self-protection scenario where an attack is mitigated by deploying and configuring the necessary resources.
