Abstract
Over the past ten years Craigmillar Books for Babies has steadily built up resources for
family based early literacy development in the Craigmillar area and has also continued to act
as an exemplar both regionally and nationally. An important part of the project’s approach has
been to integrate regular evaluations into its development strategy. The success of the project
can be identified through a number of measures. This study reports on the latest evaluation to
be carried out, compares this to previous evaluations and concludes by identifying the
project’s key strengths, potential challenges and recommendations for addressing them.
