Abstract

Coupled wave theory (CWT) is applied to optical waves in one-dimensional PT-symmetric photonic crystals. In particular, the theory is used to calculate the bandgaps and reflectance/transmittance of such crystals. The results are in good agreement with exact numerical simulations based on the transfer matrix method.
