Abstract

• Purpose of the paper:
This empirical study aims to investigate how the national economic policies can be used to aid the development of agricultural companies development in South-West Nigeria using a conjugative mixed-method approach which will comprise both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study will focus on the development of a conceptual framework and development of a model for the effective implementation of agricultural policies using the logistic regression model.

• Design/methodology/approach:
The methodological approach adopted for this study is the conjugative mixed method. Survey and semi-structured interviews were used to collect data from the six (6) states within the region. Chi-square, heatmap and regression analysis were used to analyse the data collected and determine the relationship between developmental variables and the development of agricultural companies in South-West Nigeria.

• Findings:
The findings from the study show that the bane of the agricultural sector in Nigeria was due to the lack of an agricultural regulatory framework and policy transmission mechanism and over-dependent on oil revenue among other things. The conceptual framework and model developed in this study, however, showed linkages between the economic variables and the development of agricultural companies in South-West Nigeria. Therefore, this study suggests adopting a reliable agricultural framework and agricultural models that will aid the development of agricultural companies, which will lead to food sufficiency and a reduction in the level of poverty in the South-West region of Nigeria.

• Research limitations:
Major limitations of the study-
Reliability of data
Accuracy of the data
Human complexities: Experience, feelings, etc.
Moral limitations: Culture, philosophical beliefs, etc.
Ethical limitations: Norms, confidentiality, etc.

• Practical implications:
The model's outcome shows that implementing appropriate agricultural transmission mechanisms, agricultural models, a regulatory framework, and effective diversification will aid agricultural companies' ROCE, EPS, and benefit from the company's assets and value.

• Social implications:
This study's findings provide a wide variety of Information, such as the level of poverty, the effect of corruption, the cost of externalities, and ROCE, which can serve as a guide in decision-making.

• * Originality/value of paper
Developing the empirical framework and agricultural models will distinguish this study from earlier research on agricultural policy development in Nigeria. The model will be capable of establishing a link between agricultural policy and the development of agricultural companies.
