Abstract
Contextual Safeguarding (CS) is an approach to safeguarding that supports practitioners to recognise and respond to the harm young people experience outside of the home. This exercise was developed to explore contexts of risk and safety with children and young people and create safety plans. It can also be used as a tool for context weighting by professionals to target areas of risk and develop action plans. Context weighting is a process of identifying which context should be targeted first in the process of assessment.
