Abstract
The dataset presented in this article is designed for teaching the process of analysing focus groups. This dataset is provided by Dr. Robert McLean from the School of Media, Culture and Society within the University of the West of Scotland. The data are derived from research carried out as part of Dr. McLean’s PhD and examines transcripts from two focus groups that were held with participants in 2015. The example given will be of most use to those approaching the analysis and coding of focus groups centred on a particular topic or issue – in this case, the supply of drugs within criminal networks. The dataset file is also accompanied by a Teaching Guide and Student Guide.
