Abstract

This paper consists in presenting a target task, « Creating your own firm » in the form of activity sheets, which some students from Paisley University have carried out during their academic year. Some samples of transferable teaching materials have been designed in order to make learners sensitive to some communicative tasks they might have to face. Firstly, this paper establishes the reasons why this particular task was selected. It then focuses on the methodology adopted to encourage the students to get more involved in tasks they might have to carry out in the real world. Stress is placed on the importance of using IT tools such as « Blackboard ». Have task-based language learning and teaching been a positive experience for the learners?
