Abstract

Drawing on a research project entitled ‘Prayer in Schools: International Perspectives’ (Kohn, Matemba and Stern), this paper captures the complex but at times complementary understandings of prayer voices from different school settings, including both public and faith-based educational spaces. The international composition of ‘prayer voices’ from Africa (Malawi and Zimbabwe), Europe (Malta and Germany), Middle East (Israel) and America (USA) reveals not only the contextual peculiarity of these findings but also the universal applicability of these insights on prayer practices in diverse and international school settings.
