Abstract

The purpose of this rapid review is to collate and synthesise the learning that has occurred regarding the application of contextual safeguarding approaches across the UK. The aims of this review are to understand:

1.What is the current understanding of Contextual Safeguarding?
2.What are the strengths and limitations of the current use of Contextual Safeguarding?
3.What resources and training are available for Contextual Safeguarding?

It was developed as part of a larger study by Miller, et al 2025, Co-Producing Contextual Safeguarding in South Lanarkshire, the rapid review is designed to be read with the report.
