Abstract

Ongoing developments within both the taught and researched areas of entrepreneurship education (EE) are now evidenced across many forms and levels of education, examples of which are equipped with novel methods, underpinned by purposeful objectives, and are championed by charismatic educators focused on the entrepreneurial development of their learners. In order for EE to progress further, the academic community can, and must, be informed and inspired to implement such fresh approaches as everyday practice. This increases the likelihood of such initiatives leading to desirable and significant outcomes for all. Amidst this, key advances in the field of EE, from the impact of institutional or sector change to technological shifts, present notable challenges and opportunities to EE educators and researchers, in equal measure. This chapter reflects on the current state of EE, as well as confronts aspects of educational philosophy and applied teaching methods, which influence EE design and delivery. The chapter closes with the authors outlining emerging perspectives of EE, and a brief introduction to the chapters within each of the three parts of this edited book: Approaches, Outcomes, and Advances.
