    Abstract

This paper explores the US ‘off year’ 2017 election results (in places such as Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and Washington state) and asks whether the achievements of the Democratic Party are a reaction caused by ‘Trumpism’ and specifically if we are looking at the renaissance of the democratic-socialist left in the US, as a component of the Democratic Party.
