Abstract

This introductory paper introduces a series of five articles that will explore topics in advanced dementia care. Covering concerns such as defining advanced dementia and exploring supportive interventions and care, it will show the exceptional nursing skills and knowledge required to deliver evidence informed advanced dementia care with compassion and respect. This paper introduces the key concepts for the series and challenges the perception that this area of care has a limited appeal and opportunity for nurses.
