    Abstract

What might a woman in her 60s, 70s, or 80s, gain from physical activity and what might physical activity mean to a woman in her mid eighties. Amidst all the physical activity guidelines that are being promoted for "older people" (whatever is meant by that) do health practitioners sometimes forget that life is complicated and takes unexpected turns? These three poems are from a cd/performance called Across The Tamar, a social science research project exploring the lives and physical activity experiences of women over 60 years of age living in Cornwall, the most south-westerly county in the UK. It was filmed in Cornwall.
