Abstract

Virtual tours of cultural heritage sites have become of interest for cultural heritage institutions in recent years. The paper contributes to the growing area of web-based three-dimensional visualisation for cultural heritage by discussing the high-level design of a web-based three-dimensional application in the cultural heritage sector that can be accessed via desktop, mobile, or virtual reality head mounted displays. The application is presented through the case study of the 'Cutty Sark' three-dimensional virtual tour, discussing the advantages and limitations of the approach taken.
