Abstract
This scoping review highlights the gaps and inconsistencies in the existing literature around coaching the split jerk exercise in strength and conditioning (S&C). S&C practitioners commonly implement weightlifting movements and their derivatives, such as the split jerk, into their athlete training programs, without a comprehensive technical model to follow. Eleven articles were retrieved using electronic databases, and their contents systematically analysed. Four articles did not provide a technical model. Of the remaining seven articles, six used a learning sequence of establish exercises to teach the split jerk and one provided a novel technical model. The review concluded that there is a gap in the literature, and an absence of a detailed and bespoke technical model to teach the split jerk in S&C.
