    Abstract

This article offers a critical analysis of the opinion texts on the 40th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution published on December 6 and 7, 2018 on ABC and on December 5 and 6 of the same month in three digital newspapers: elconfidencial.com , eldiario.es and infoLibre.es . Within the framework of this celebration, an ideological struggle was verified that took the forms of narratives and counter-narratives about the Transition period and the Constitution itself. The present study analyzes the characteristics of the story established by the opinion articles and editorials of ABC, which is presented as a nostalgic narrative and opposed to the constitutional reform, compared to the stories disseminated in the three digital newspapers that, to a greater or lesser extent, questioned the "myth" about the Transition and defended, from different positions, the reform Constitutional as a solution to the institutional crisis in Spain.
