The programme is unique as it is the only programme in UK employing the AIE educational approach. It was built on a well-balanced approach to both theory and practice. Practical elements of the course were linked to job skills requirements inherited from the industry, thus embedding industry needs to the learning outcomes of the programme offerings. In addition to that, the programme is delivered in a hyper blended mode using accelerated education pedagogy that integrates digital social and transformational technology (for example 360 VR and augmented reality). This sector leading transformation has seen the team take a micro-learning approach to reconstruct and capture their teaching into bite-size video segments which students are able to access anytime, anywhere and on any device. Practically, this approach utilises various platforms and Google apps for education to integrate a series of digital and interactive pieces of content for students to engage with.Lecture content is compressed into a series of short video segments (i.e 1hr lecture broken into 3-10 minute segments), which are collated and introduced through a TouchCast overlay. TouchCast is an interactive video platform that allows students to consume lecture material at their own pace and self-direct their learning experience. Importantly, the platform is not broadcast-only but facilitates two-way interaction from students who can comment on content at any time which is then curated for future review and revision. In addition to digital lecture content, the team are also harnessing virtual and augmented reality to further revolutionise their teaching practice.
