"This award was established in 1983 in memory and honor of Sir Geoffrey Vickers, colleague, mentor, teacher. It is presented annually upon the recommendation of a panel of readers for the ISSS student paper competition, in recognition of the high quality of the research which has been demonstrated by the author and in appreciation for the scholarship which it represents as emerging from students in the field."
