The University of the West of Scotland in collaboration with NHS Ayrshire and Arran began work on a project using virtual reality. The project aimed to help healthcare workers better empathise with service-users with sensory processing differences, improving communication and care. The project involved harnessing and developing innovative teaching techniques including the use of experiential educational material, blended learning and a variety of virtual reality technology. The aim of the project is to facilitate our health and care workforce to develop a greater awareness of sensory processing differences and the potential impact such differences can have on service user experience and their health and well-being. .
