Dr Zeeshan Pervez received his doctorate degree from the Department of Computer Engineer, Kyung Hee University (KHU), South Korea, in 2013. He was award with Presidential Scholarship Award for his doctorate degree. During his doctorate, he worked on secure integration of cloud computing with wireless sensor networks, which later evolved to Internet of Things (IoT). In his doctorate, he proposed privacy-aware access control policies for public cloud storage services, ensuring security and privacy of private data outsourced to public cloud service providers. Followed by this, he proposed privacy-aware relevant data access, ensuring complete end-to-end privacy of collaborative cloud storage services. For his seminal work in oblivious computation in untrusted networks he was awarded with KHU Research Award. He was also awarded with KHU Departmental Research Award to collaborate with Computer Science Research Institute, University of Ulster, United Kingdom to work on secure cloud based ambient assisted living platform. From his doctorate and onward he has authored 50+ scholarly outputs cited over 320 times in peer reviewed conferences and journals.

During his postdoctoral fellowship at Ubiquitous Computing Laboratory (UC Lab) KHU, he led the Cloud Security Group, and worked on a collaborative project between UC Lab and Seoul Saint Merry Hospital, South Korea. He designed and implemented data anonymisation methodologies for publishing clinical data whist ensuring data usability. He also led a project funded by Microsoft Asia to process anonymised clinical data to promote healthy living among diabetes patients using Microsoft Azure Platform. For his work on cloud storage security and privacy, he was invited to deliver five guest lectures in national and international events. 

From September 2013 and onward he has been working as a Lecturer with School of Engineering and Computing, University of the West of Scotland (UWS). At UWS has been involved in various UK/EU and international funded projects. He is principle investigator of SFC funded project on cybersecurity - investigating social media trends to combat cyberattacks in next generation networking technologies.  He is leading Microsoft Asia funded project on privacy-aware IoT stream integration using device-to-cloud telemetry. He is also leading a project funded by Research Incentive Fund at Zayed University, United Arab Emirates to develop methods for secure and privacy-aware curation of IoT data streams.

From October 2014, he has been working as UWS coordinator for EU SmartLink and involved in gLink project – collaboration between 17 EU and 19 South Asian Universities. These projects investigate the usage of smart and green technologies e.g., IoT, Big Data, Next Generation Networks, for transports, infrastructure monitoring, public health management, and communication. He is also co—investigator for EU Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility between UWS and National Polytechnic School of Algeria, Algeria.

He is an active member of Artificial Intelligence, Visual Communication and Networks (AVCN) research centre at UWS. AVCN has grown to a hub of cutting edge research for Cloud Computing, IoT and Big Data, Software Defined Networks, Visual Communications, to name a few. AVCN has a proven track record of leading national and international projects from European Commission, Research Councils UK, Innovate UK, Scottish Funding Councils, Scottish Innovation Centres to name a few. He has organised a special session on IoT for privacy-aware smart and connected services in SKIMA 2015 conference which received an overwhelming response from the research community.

He is leading two postgraduate programs on MSc Advanced Computing (IoT and Big Data) and MSc Information and Network SecurityMSc Advanced Computing has successfully secured multiple studentships from the Scottish Funding Council via The Data Lab, for IoT and Big Data specialised streams.
