Overview

I am a Lecturer in the School of Health, Nursing and Midwifery starting in Bell College in 2004 on Hamilton Campus.  i work across all 4 campuses periodically and my interests are e-leanring, clinical skill and simualtion, use of audio-visual feedback for debrifeing

I have been involved in co-project managingthe clincal skills faciltites on the other three campuses.  I am the co-ordinator for the whole of the Scfhool of HNM for safeMedicate (numeracy e-learning system) and Lt(kuraCloud)

I was luck enought to win a STARS awardin 2016 and also runner up

Desired research direction

With the large number of students in the School of HNM, both pre and post registration there is an ideal opportunity to underatke research projects with colleagues and also the opportunity to publish but as the ratio of staff to students has doubled in the last year it is increasingly difficult to find the time

Target collaborative companies

As the co-ordinator of two e-learning systems for the School of HNM,  I work closely with both safeMedicate based in Cardiff with world wide distribution and ADInstruments based in New Zealand again with worldwide customers 

I have visited both headquarters to liaise and develop aspects of the software to the schools requirements

I, along with a collegaue, also liaise with SCOTIA who provide the digital audio visual system used within the School of HNM and have worked with their technicians in improving the service here as well as basing two mobile cameras in the School of Mediicne in Blantyre, Malawi

 

I attend bi annual meeting with the Malawi Partnership Group(Scotland) networking with liked minded individuals and organisations in the support of the Malawian people   

Other areas of expertise available for knowledge exchange

I have been a nurse for 46 years and spent 20 years in the HM Forces both as a non-commissioned and Commissioned Officer (attending RMA Sandhurst) and during thistime[picked up many skills in teamworking, communication skills and supporting those you are responsible for both as a lecturer and trained nurse

I have knowledge in Resuscitation/Triage after holdingthe post of Resuscittaion Officer/ TriageOfficer for some years both in the NHS and roles in Rhodesia,Gulf and Northern Ireland

I have a sound knowkedge of IT skills in software widley used by staff

I have spent many years on debeoping the LT e-learning system which is now impmeneted in the School of HNM and rolling out to other schools in UWS

I am a member of various committes including MyJourney, InPlace, Technical Advisory Committee, Clinical Skills Network.

I am responsible for the Interprofessional Eduaction with Glasgow University and NHS lLnarkshire which offers the opportunity for final year nursing students  to work  alongside doctors ad pharmacists.

I am a team player in all aspects, this is a trait developed in the HM Forces and I totally believe in good communication and supporting my colleagues and students I am responsible for 

Target collaborative organisations

I work with HEI's in Scotland as part of the SALt (Scottish Alliance in Lt) group liaising with other profesisonals in pharamcy, medical stduents, physiologists etc.
