Personal profile

With degrees in Internationalisation of Higher Education, Educational Policy, TESOL and Applied Linguistics, I have gained an extensive experience through working and teaching in international higher education sector. I have managed EAP programmes in the UK and China supporting international students in progressing their academic journey. My work in supervising Applied Linguistics and TESOL students have allowed me to deepen my knowledge of valid language policies, curriculum and methodologies, language awareness and intercultural communication.

At UWS, I currently oversee the provision of Pre-sessional EAP and English Langugae Online courses. I also coordinate a suite of Business English modules as well as contribute to teaching on our MEd TESOL and BA ESL programmes.

I am a hands-on and creative researcher with outstanding planning and organizational assets, experienced in conducting research projects, with analytical skills and the ability to use software for data analysis. I am experienced in all of the aspects of managing research, from groundwork and designing research to data collection and analysis, and disseminating research, networking and facilitating knowledge exchange.

My work and research revolves around re-imagining the Internationalisation of HE. I have used my research as a tool to challenge preconceptions about international students to strengthen cultural sensitivity in pedagogical approaches, and contribute to developing a university culture that supports ‘internationalisation at home’ initiatives to embrace ‘other’ academic and intellectual traditions. My career and research have allowed me to actively develop the institutional vision and culture through implementing comprehensive internationalisation strategy into university life.
