I am a registered nurse  in a wide variety of experience in telehealth, telecare and renal nursing.

Current research activities

I am currently working on projects related to: senory processing and augmented virtual reality, the professional use of social media within nursing, the use of emotional touchpoints as a tool to support learning and digital health and clinical decision making.

Previous research projects include development of nursing competencies in telehealthcare, the impact of non timeous referral to nephrology consultants and the concordance of individuals with renal failure to thier peritoneal dialysis regime.

Previous evaluative studies include: the introduction of telephone consultation skills into an undergratduate nursing programme, the evaluation of levelling sessions for mentors undertaking grading in clinical practice, the impact of dedicated time for professional development for clinical staff and the telehealth care environment as a clinical practice experience for student nurses.

Desired research direction

I wish to continue research into social media and health and social care. I have a particular interest in further develping my research interests in digital health, clinical decision making, telehealth care and the use of augmented virtual relaity and serious gaming within the teaching environment.

I would be interested in collaberating with individuals and organisations with similar interests to my own.
