Current Role
Simon is a full time lecturer within the UWS Social Work department.
Background Profile
Simon has worked across several local authority criminal justice settings as a criminal justice social worker and as a team leader.
He has previously held a lecturing position in Social Work at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Throughout his social work employment Simon has specialised in working with people assessed as presenting a high risk of reoffending with violent or sexual convictions. Simon was part of a strategic group that created and implemented National Standards for MAPPA Level 1 processes across Scotland. He was a regular contributor to various training forums.
Research Interests
Simon’s research interests include criminal justice, desistance, public protection, MAPPA, sexual offending, and working with risk.
He is currently undertaking a PhD focusing on decision making within MAPPA (inter-agency risk management forums).
