Overview
Dr Shaif Ahammed joined The School of Business and Creative Industries of University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in March 2022 as a Lecturer in Business and Management. Before joining UWS in his full-time role, Dr Ahammed worked at Edinburgh Napier University in the Strategy, Operation and Entrepreneurship division of the Business School. He was also involved with teaching and marking at UCL for a number of years and supervised DBA and MBA students at UWS since 2020.
Prior to joining academia, Shaif gained extensive experience working in retail, fashion retail, telecommunication sector and the third sector in a different managerial positions. Shaif gained his first degree in Applied Accounting with 1st class in 2011 and was awarded an MBA in Business Administration in 2015 and Doctoral Degree in 2019.
He has a keen research interest in Microbusinesses, SMEs, CSR, Social Responsibility, Sustainability, and Business Ethics. Currently, Dr Ahammed supervises several doctoral students in multiple research areas including Labour Laws, Entrepreneurship, CSR and Leadership. He is keen on any research collaboration and is open to accepting PhD/DBA students who are keen to work on Business and Management related topics.
Current research activities
I am currently working on several research papers, in collaboration with colleagues at UWS and other HEIs, on SMEs, business ethics, and CSR.
Current teaching activities and interests
I have extensive experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in UK HE. Also, I worked with a team to develop the module Live Project while working at Edinburgh Napier University.
Currently, I am involved with teaching different modules in UWS for postgraduate levels including Leadership, Organisational Culture, Organisational Health and Research Methodology. To enhance my teaching skills, I regularly join in different training sessions. I support my doctoral students to find relevant conferences and prepare them to be active researchers.
Target collaborative organisations
I am open to working with councils and other organisations such as Business Gateway that are interested to support local businesses including SMEs and microbusinesses.
