Overview

I am Senior Lecturer in Political Science at the University of the West of Scotland in the United Kingdom. I conduct research into political behaviour, focussing on mass attitudes towards democracy and styles of participation. I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde (2007) and was a post-doctoral fellow at the WZB (Social Science Center, Berlin) in 2007-2008. My recent publications have appeared in European Journal of Political Research, West European Politics, International Political Science Review, and German Politics.

Current research activities

My research comprises public opinion and democracy, along with party politics in Germany. I am writing a monograph on political disaffection in Germany, with a contract from Palgrave MacMillan. I have also written on party politics in Germany, with articles and blog contribution on the German Left Party, Die Linke.

As an applied quantitative researcher, I am engaged in funded research activities for Poppy Scotland, undertaking the design and data collection of a questionnaire to veterans of the Armed Forces.

Desired research direction

I aim to continue to conduct research on public opinion and democracy, along with varous aspects of party politics. My interest in these areas remains ongoing, and I have opportunities to develop them through international research networks. I am also interested in applying my qunatitative skill set more widely.
