My current field of research involves examining frailty in older peolple in the community. I am also interested in mature students experiences of higher education.

Area of academic expertise - outline

Research interests include frailty and the management of long-term conditions, particularly dementia and COPD, Care home research, educational research that looks at older people, mature students and their experiences of higher education and life-long learning. Practitioner research particularly in relation to the care and management of older people.

Current research activities

Recently completed a Doctorate in Education at the University of Strathclyde

MSc Supervision and encouraging successful MSc students to disseminate and publish their work.

Desired research direction

Having recently completed my Doctorate and a project that examined frailty in the community I am actively seeking opportunities for research dissemination as well as writing up both studies for publication. Following this to seek funding opportunities for collaborative, innovative multidisciplinary research with suitable partners.

Currently working with Alzheimer Scotland; Alliance (Scotland); NHS Education Scotland.

Care Home companies and other community based healthcare providers; third sector organisations with an interest in Older People care and services.
